Today is the 80th birthday of one of the greatest comics artists, Steve Ditko. Here are a few of his covers from my collection, including two from one of my favorite Ditko creations, Beware, the Creeper:
I have to agree, the Creeper was pretty much Steve Ditko's Zenith in Character design wasn't it?
I mean, look how *simple* yet brilliant that costume is in it's colors and form! Steve obvious knew the Kraven mane was a masterstroke, but it needed just that final *touch* of color differention to make it stand out correctly.
Anyway... the first 38 issues of Spider-man > the first 38 issues of anything else.
I am an English professor at a small university in South Carolina, where I teach courses in British literature, film, and detective fiction. I blog about comics, movies, and other pop culture topics. And I like everything that you like.
