The Gil Kane Punch of the Week 2

Robin punches Sebastian Sepastopol in "Stepping Stones for a Giant Killer," written by Mike Friedrich, pencilled by Gil Kane, and inked by Wally Wood. Originally published in Teen Titans 19 (1969) and reprinted in Showcase Presents: Teen Titans Vol. 2.

I assume this was preceded by the old "Batman taught me never to punch a man wearing glasses" gag?

Could one punch by a non-powered guy REALLY send someone flying like that, though? Looks like something the MythBusters guys should test out! ;-)

A wonderful idea for a semi-regular series! This particular Teen Titans story has some beautiful artwork, especially if you're a fan of Robin and Speedy - or Aqualad bondage!

May I suggest for a future "Gil Kane Punch of the Week" the penultimate page of Kane's "Hunt for a Robin-Killer" from Detective Comics # 374 (reprinted in 100-page Batman # 257) which not only takes up the entire page but is described as "Batman hammers out the mightiest hay-maker of his career"!

I've only just discovered your blog (from a link on Chris's Invincible Super-Blog) and I shall certainly be popping over for a regular look. Keep up the good work Dr. K.

Don't get me wrong: I love Punch of the Week--but isn't this punch pretty much the same punch as last week's, only with different outfits? Next week, I want somebody punching with his right hand and the punched not to be in mid-backflip. How about a cockpunch? Do you have any of those?

Now that's an insane, over the top, defying physics, Gil Kane comic book PUNCH!
